As an experienced SEND practitioner, Jackie has held a number of positions including a specialist teacher, SENCO, Inclusion Lead and Senior Leader in Secondary Schools and, for the last 11 years she has worked cross phase in an advisory capacity for South Gloucestershire Local Authority. Her work has a number of strands, individual children/casework, delivering SEND training to schools and at courses and at conferences, as well as more strategic work with headteachers, teachers, teaching assistants and SENCOs. In addition she is a serving member of a NASEN advisory group, formerly in the Secondary and Post 16 Group and recently she became chair of the SENCO and Learning Support Advisory Group. She is a passionate advocate for inclusion and achieving the best possible outcomes for children with SEN. The focus of her work is to ensure that schools have the skills and knowledge to enable the children they teach to thrive and make progress. Jackie strives to create independent and confident children and young people who can flourish within their community.
