Professor Sir Tim Brighouse was the first appointed Commissioner for London Schools and then Chief Advisor between 2002 and 2007. In 2002, he became a Visiting Professor at the Institute of Education, University of London. He was previously the Chief Education Officer for the City of Birmingham for 10 years and before that Professor of Education at Keele University and Chief Education Officer for Oxfordshire. Sir Tim was knighted in 2009, for services to education.
Professor Sir Tim Brighouse is the co-editor of 'The Story of London Challenge (2014)', alongside Professor David Woods. The pair have also co-written a number of books on school improvement, including the 'The A-Z of School Improvement: Principles and Practice (2013)'. He has a national and international reputation as an educational thinker and writer, and is a regular speaker across the UK.
