Following a change of career 20 years ago, Vanessa trained as a primary school teacher, teaching Y4-6. As an AST and then an SLE, Vanessa enjoyed working with schools across Lincolnshire, on a range of school improvement priorities. School-support included: mentoring trainees, literacy programmes, development of subject-leadership and a creative curriculum. After a spell as Head of Primary Education at the Holocaust Centre, Vanessa returned to teaching in 2009, becoming an Assistant Headteacher. In 2016, she became a Regional Research Lead for the Mobilise project, based at a Teaching School – working with 300 schools, from all phases across the county to implement the EEF’s Recommendations for ‘Making Best Use of Teaching Assistants’. Vanessa is also a licenced MPTA trainer.
